ABOUT: 

After a robbery of epic proportions at the premises of a private security firm in Paraguay, federal agents from the Foz do Iguaçu bureau launch a complex investigation. Following the trail of the DNA samples they collect, they discover a trace that connects the robbery in the neighboring country with other recent crimes, unveiling an even larger plan involving criminal elements from both countries.

FACTS:

Criminal Code is a Brazilian crime drama and heist television series created by Heitor Dhalia and produced by Netflix in partnership with Paranoïd Filmes. The series is inspired by a mega-robbery that occurred in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay, in 2017, and explores the complex web of organized crime on the border between Brazil and Paraguay, as well as the use of DNA technology in police investigations.

The first season was released on November 14, 2023, and the second season premiered on June 4, 2025. Created by Heitor Dhalia, with Leonardo Levis and Bernardo Barcellos as co-creators, the series has scripts by Bernardo Barcellos and Bruno Passeri (head writers in the first season), Leonardo Levis, Davi Kolb, Rosana Rodini, Mariana Vielmond and Aly Muritiba. The first season was directed by Heitor Dhalia and Pedro Morelli, with Dhalia taking over as general director of the second season, which also features episodes directed by Morelli and Felipe Vellas. The series stars Maeve Jinkings, Rômulo Braga and Thomás Aquino.

COMMENTS:

The first season totally knocked me on my a*s! It was action packed with an intensity that made me feel like I was there. Second season was also good, but didn’t quiet get me all the way. Although great action scenes, but the plot could have been a little more intriguing.
